larger battery size

In the near future I will be in an area where it gets cold. I do not believe the 2001 EX battery is very powerful for real cold starts. What ids the largest battery I can put into this car? Thanks

Some people have taken out the battery tray and holder to make it fit. One of the best starting batteries is an optima red top, but I don't think you'll need a new one just because of the cold.

If you don't want to spend Optima dollars, look at Interstate batteries. Battery size isn't the final answer on what it is capable of doing but rather look at Cold Cranking Amps (CCA).

A stock Civic battery has 410 CCA which is rather puny for extended cranking. Fortunately for us, Civics start right up without a lot of fuss.

Interstate makes replacement battery but also makes one with 500 CCA in the same battery size. I belive the size is 51MT but you'd have to check their site.

Optima doesn't list a size for the Civic on their site but if there is updated info I'd go with the Optima. I have a Red Top in another vehicle and it has about twice the life of an ordinary battery. If you don't want to spend the bucks, check out Interstate.
