I just purchased a 8000k HID kit from a local racing shop for $425, and I love it. When I first turn it on, it is pure purple, when it heats up, it is white with a dark tint of purple. also it is bright. There are lots of different kits out there, made by different companies. it is a good investment, it last the life of the car. Also if you decide to buy one, decide and what color you like. the lower the kelvin tempature, the whiter and brighter it is. the higher the temp, the more color you get, but it isnt as bright, but it is still bright as hell.

I have heard that they are illegal, but they are being sold all over ebay, and every racing shop in Houston sells them, so I dont believe it. And besides someone said it is a $5,000-10,000 a day fine for vendors selling them, but everyone is selling them which makes me think they are legal.

Check out the GROUPBUY section. UBRIGHTLIGHTS has an HID GB going on..... I recommend his lowest kit (5k) for best visibility. 7k-8k for best look...

when I bought mine I didnt know much about them either. If you go to a racing shop or store that sells HID kits, if you tell them what you are looking for and what you want they will tell you what to get. If you are looking for a bright HID kit, go with a kelvin tempature of 5000K-6000k. They are the brightest ones to get, they also have a tiny bit of color in them, either purple or white. If you want more color, but a little less lighter, ( but still bright ), go with a kelvin tempature of 7000k-10,000k. those kits usually have a white color with alot of purple or blue in it. The higher the kelvin tempature, the more color. Alot of people say dont get a kit that was made in korea because they suck, I honestly dont know about that, ask around. But once again, people who work in stores that sell them can tell you what to get depending on what you want. there really isnt much more to explain about them, you just need to know about the kelvin tempature and the output it gives which I just explained.

yea thats true, but the 5000k-6000k kits look 10x better and are about the same in brightness as the 4100k-4300k kits.

6000K works for me and I love it
If you really want bright go with the 4100k-4300k kit.
Some of the 6000k+ kits look too blue to be safe from the cops, imo.
BTW, mines are Bellof 6000k Spark Whites. 120000YEN from AutoWave in Tokyo =)

most HID kits are just the low beam, they do however have kits out there that have low and high beams. You really wont need a kit with both because they are bright, but if you want you can get a high/low beam kit. they alittle more expensive, but it is whatever you want.

Yes and No... the projectors already "twinkle" like the high end cars because of the effect of the projectors (like a prism), but the TYC's were not designed for HID lighting, so the light could be thrown all over the place and cause massive glare.

also you have to do modification in order to have the HID's fit in the TYC projectors, you have to shave the opening in the projector.
