Ok. This is weird. Anyway, when calculating HP I used a weight of 2770. The Civic literature says an EX AT weighs 2615. I'm 160 right now, so that's 2775, and I subtracted 5lbs for not having quite a full tank. Both hp runs I only topped ou 2nd gear because the speed limit was 55.

edit: ^ Math typo.

Run 1: 80hp in both 1st and 2nd gear
Run 2: 80hp in both 1st and 2nd gear

Wtf? There's no way AT's have a 38% drivetrain loss (80/127 = 62%, or 38% loss). So, maybe the GTech was just being stupid.

Alright, so I said screw that. Let's do some 0-60 runs. The road I was on was mostly flat, so I did runs both ways.

Run 1: 11.6 seconds. Oops, I forgot to turn the A/C off.
Run 2: 10.6
Run 3: 10.34
Run 4: 10.84

And yesterday on a slightly curved road I got 10.22. So, this gets a big wtf.

At least I can use it to see if new mods help or hurt my 0-60 time, or maybe add to my 80whp

And I paid like $55 shipped off of eBay for everything including the box, instructions, and a decal.

Trust me you have to go into third gear for accurate results. My friend has a bmw and in first and second gear he only got 73 hp. But when he went to third gear he got 173 hp

There aren't many roads like that over here. At least I can get good 0-60 times. That's more concrete than hp anyway. HP has other factors like weight and stuff involved.

Anyway, I'll be sure to test any new mods and post the results here.

As for finishing up 3rd gear, by that time wouldn't you have huge amounts of wind drag built up to affect accleration and things?

Maybe the reason you ran 10.22 one day and 10.34 the next was because of temperature outside? Perhaps it was warmer outside when you ran the 10.34...?

well if you guess 18.5 seconds 1/4 mile then yeah it's close comes up with 85hp. I think 18.5 can be done in an auto???? And man if you are afraid to hit 80 then you shouldnt be concerned with power anyways. Go for looks cause your posts get worse and worse. you wont know what your peak Hp is with that kind of test unless you take your car to its peak. Also keep in mind peak Hp is at High rpms and unless you drive the hell outa it you won't be hitting high enough rpms to get your true peak Hp feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Anyways as long as you're happy keep on keepin on!!!

I still say I've hit 100 in D3, but I might be wrong so next time I'm on the highway I'll check. But I don't know when the next time that will be is.

Also, I don't know much about cars, but it makes no sense that different gears would create different horse power. If they did, then wouldn't a cars hp rating say something like

127hp @ 6500 rpm in 3rd gear

instead of just 127hp @ 6500 rpm?

And man if you are afraid to hit 80 then you shouldnt be concerned with power anyways

That's gotta be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard on this forum Power isn't about how fast you can go, it's about how fast you can get to a given speed. I don't know why everyone cares so much about how fast they can go when it's illegal to do so. "I've had my car up to 135!" <-- good job, badass. Not only are you breaking the law and endangering others on the road, but you're endangering yourself, too.

I never said I was afraid to hit 80 on the freeway. I said I didn't want to go 80 in a 55 zone that was not a highway.

And hitting 80 in an auto would still be 2/3rds of the way through D3, not redline.

I just read the whole thing again, where the hell did I say I was afraid to go 80?

Some people need to learn how to ****ing read instead of trying to sound tough over the internet and be little ricers. lease: lease:

I am wondering how you can get a 01'-o3' civic up to 135 when the speed limiter cuts it out around 127.

I don't know if you can get it up to 135 or not. I just picked 135 as an arbitrary number that was way above the speed limit to make my point. If you read carefully you see that I'm not saying I had my car that fast, I'm just mocking the people who post things like that because it was relevent to my argument. You can tell I didn't say it because I put quotes around it and then drew an arrow to it.

3rd or 4th gear is cloest to the ratio I believe...

actually I forgot whats the best bet for an auto. heh.

but yeah, checking the numbers in 1st and 2nd isn't enough..

although that 0-60 time should be fairly accurate.

I wouldn't be surprise if you're getting 10 sec with a Civic auto.

its pretty tough already to hit 8 with a stick, 9 is about the average.. if u dont bother launching the car, its going to be tough to get to 8 sec 0-60 in an auto, even if its an ex.

also, accurate weight will effect the numbers... are any of ur mods heavy enough to warrant adding those numbers in?

I dont think u added right.. 2615 = 160 = 2775, not 2715

also, is the curb weight (with gas) or without? you should check that.

cuz if the numbers given by the manual is the weight of the civic without gas.. you shouldn't be subtracting any amount. you should be adding, even if you just have a few gallon.

anyhow, when u run in 3rd and 4th, dont be surprise of below 100 hp numbers. heh.

a lot of us will be surprise when they attach actual numbers to our car.

127hp @ 6500rpm...yes, but it measured at crank, not on wheel, therefore as you said before, you will lose some hp after the power transfered to the transmittion and to the wheel...remember there are frictions, but at crank, there is none!

a stock civic with 5 spd dyno at about 105 to 110hp on wheel...or whp i should say....
well since you have auto, then even less should be around 90whp.....

all you have is an intake...doesn't make a big difference...

also, you will have to do the dyno or gtech at 3rd gear, get your car about 3000rpm and START, and redline it....

Haha, oh man I suck. Let me go and change that. I must have typed the wrong numbers.

I assume with. That's what I was told.

Thanks for the decent reply that wasn't full of **** talk or ricer babble.

IDQcivic should not be trusted
FYI.. the new firmware 3.0 is out as well as the PC software, I am gunna install it tonight, I guess it makes some kind of dyno graph and analyzes shift points... this is for the new GTECH, not the older one that some people have...
