Just got Gtech. (results posted)
This this is much smaller than I thought. The whole unit is shorter than my index finger. I'll post back after I use it.

I'll take pics of the unit later. I'll be back this evening with my numbers. I might test my dad's car, too. He has an Oldsmobile Cutlass.

I had the GTech Comp/Pro. I thought it was pretty accurate (unless you hit any bumps). I bought it brand new for $200 shipped. Sold it on ebay for $225 + shipping

I didn't get to fully test it yet because I had to move some stuff today (we're getting new carpet).
Anyway, I did play with it for a little bit, but it was rush hour and I could only find space and time to do a 0-60 test.
I wish I had gotten this a few weeks ago when I was still in my college town. There were a ton of long, flat country roads on the way there.
Anyway, my 0-60 time was 10.27 seconds
That's auto sedan EX. However, the road I was on had a slight curve in it so that probably slowed the time down a bit.
Now here's the weird part. I wanted to do a HP calculation as well, but the speed limits were only 45mph, so I could only redline 1st gear (seeing as how redlining 2nd gear would place me above 60 and I didn't want to do that in a 45 zone).
So, after redlining 1st gear and ending up at 45, I slowed down at a light to check my max HP. It said 76. Wtf??? I know autos lose power, but they can't lose THAT much power. There must have been some factor or something I messed up... maybe I was going head first into a huge wind or something, or maybe I input the weight wrong (see below), or maybe I was on an incline and didn't notice. Either way, 76hp to the wheels cannot be right.
About the weight. Edmunds.com says the weight of my car is 2564. I rounded that down to 2550, and then added 160 for me (that's how much I weigh now), so I had the weight set to 2710.
Hmmm.
More later.

Why won't I get accurate results from 1st? Does any gear at the same RPM produce the same hp? Like shouldn't 1st gear at 6000rpm have the same hp as 2nd gear at 6000rpm, etc?
Anyway, I'll go find a better place to test tomorrow. Too bad I can't use a runway

Anyway, I figure as long as I use the same weight each time, I'll be able to tell if a mod adds power or not. That's the main reason I got it.

its tough to find a good spot for gtech runs. But if you always use the same spot, same wieght, amount of fuel( at least close) and average out the numbers from say 5 or 6 runs the numbers are pretty consistant.

I dunno.
I have to finish out 3rd gear? Crap, that's like over 100mph (I think) in my automatic car! I'm not going to do that.
How about I finish out second gear instead? Good, because I have the GTech so you have to agree
Anyway, 0-60 times are interesting too and I should be able to do those on a 55mph road if I can find one. I'm actually going out to look for one after I finish this meal.
Still not sure what I'll use for the weight, however.

IronFist after using it for a while you will figure out when the numbers top out and in what gear. for me it was 3rd but i have a 5 speed.
Here is an idea for a spot i've used before. try finding a good straight even lenghth of highway and pull over. push the button, wait for traffic to ease up then punch it and merge back on the highway. by the time you hit 80 you should have already seen your peak hp number and you can slow down. just an idea
