Short Shifter
anyone know how much shorter the shifts are compared to stock with a Revo SS. Anyone know of a diagram of the shift length of stock and then maybe a comparison diagram with revo?????? seems like it could be a good idea for someone to make, could easily be done in microsoft paint, if someone has experienced both shifters.

here's a pic of the difference.
I believe the height is about 1 3/8 inch difference? quite a bit basically.
but you can tell that its shorter..
as for the actual throw.. thats hardly to determine.
you can also see the aluminium bushings in the shifter assembly housing in that pic...

shortens the amount you have to move the shifter to engage in a gear. thus enabling faster shifts, which would improve acceleration

you won't feel much if you can't drive a MT well
i can admit i suck at it so the faster acceleration
won't be noticeable

I hardly would consider it helping u to accelerate better..
sure its shorter throw.. but honestly, that isn't going to shave off that much time.. if anything.
that's more of a hype and myth, in my opinion.

I would have to dissagree, shorter throw means less clutch engagement time which also means faster ets.... plus the shorter throw gives you a better feeling and more accurate gear selection... (no more missed shifts into second and third) its a big plus IMO especially as sloppy as my OEM shifter was you can shift faster which lessens up time, i highly doubt you've ever driven any car with a short shifter... i have an integra with one.. not the revo and thats why i started the thread... but trust me when you can shift more precisely and faster you will accelerate smoother and faster.

*shrug*
its my opinion.
if you think you'll run faster with a short shifter. thats fine.
its shorter. but not that much shorter.
did you mean you doubt I've driven any car with a short shifter?
when I have one myself?
and I've driven previous gen civic, integras, rsx, s2ks, yada yada... with short shifters (although not the s2k, but stock s2k is pretty darn short already)
yeah its shorter.. but all of the owners think they pull the exact same ET, with or without the short shifter.
anyway, just my opinion.

I've heard they can damage ur syncro's because they will not have enough time to get to speed with the next gear. THis can result in damage. well thats from some of the ppl on the integra board.

not gonna happen... faster shifts arent going to damage it. not knowing how to shift will damage. short shifters allow for more precise gear change and selection.

So is the REVO SS the best short sifter brand?
I disagree that faster shifts = faster ETS. That's BS. Shifting is all in the driver. I know a guy that can 12.9 on a stock corvette with stickys. No short shifter, nothing.
I think I can shift faster than my brother with his short shifter in his 6th gencivic, despite the fact his throw is shorter than mine. If someone sucks at reaction timing, then they are still going to suck with a short shifter.

runawaysoul you're missing the point man...yeah can you shift faster than your bro who has a short shifter, ever think how much faster YOU can shift if you also had a short shifter? all they do is allow for more precise shifts, and for the same driver, allow shorter shift times.

oh yeah, get CapYoda's shift kit, and Greys linkage kit, they will both better your driving experience, without costing you too much.
