Jet ECU - Bought it...
I bought the ECU. Already installed and everything is functional. Car got an awesome improvement in power, runs a lot better now, even not being on WOT. You can feel a strong "kick" in first and second when VTEC engages. This is the frist night running the car, I still only have 89 octane in, and the ECU hasn't fully adjusted yet. Definately worth the money, more gains than when I had the K&N FIPK2. It has much better tourque (low 2000rpm to redline) and a smoothe idle. Unlike what Kgracing has said however, Jet does not raise your revlimiter. Spoke to 2 different people at jet, got no's on both, they only do it on some cars, but not for ours. Then I still wrote on my form when sending the stock ecu back, asking to bump up the revlimiter, got it back with the same point. So despite having the same rev limiter, I'm still very satisfied with this product and will reccommend it to anyone. $229 on JCWhitney's site. You buy the system and pay for shipping. Once it get's shipped to you, you have to pay to ship it back. It does come with a shipping box, and packaging materials, but it's up to you how to get it to them. I paid $34 to have an airborne delivery from NH to CA and the got it the next day at 10:30 am. I got the reprogrammed ECU the following day. Hope this helps to clarify things, feel free to ask questions, I'm more than happy to answer them. Seriously awesome mod, best I've got so far.
I dont understand....All they are doing is reprogramming the chip. I had a reprogramed chip on my old 95 civic. I asked the guy i bought it from if they will ever come out with a reprogrammed chip for our cars. And he said no beacuse its distributorless engine. Why is this? JET is doing it??? (btw i bought my chip for my 95 vic for $30 bucks and installed it myself)

OK here's a question. When u send it to JET to get it reprogrammed, did you have to specify Ex/Lx/DX? Basically VTEC or Non-Vtec?

Yeah. . I'm confused about it too. . Explain the process differently. Do you send your OEM ECU to Jet, have them mess with it and mail it back? Or do they send you a whole new ECU? Or do they just send the chip? Or do they send you a whole new ECU with the jet chip in it?

u send them ure ecu and they reprogram it according to the mods u list on this paper that they give u.. and they do something to it.. according to how much mods u have. and it re-does ure air/fuel mixture, timing, and ure rev limiter, and it over rides the governor.. I have the ECU chip aswell.

should this be the last mod u do..seein how u have to tell them all the different mods uve done to ur car internally...and also if on the list u say u have an intake and a header...then after u got the reprogrammed chip...u decide not to have an intake or header..will that then mess up ur ecu

Is it carb legal?
It would be awesome if someone dynoed before and after with this mod.
And yes, I've always heard it should be your last mod because it is supposedly adjusted to everything you've done to your car so far.

yea its carb legal, all its doing is giving a better mix of air and fuel. It would be one of the last mods in my mind after you have done just about everything that way you program it to work with everythng already done.

Sounds like a good mod for us STS autocrossers.
I wonder what the gains would be for a car with header, exaust and intake? (thats all STS allows for as far as engine mods)

It is great for auto-x, instant response. You do not have to specify VTEC or not, I did anyway, but when you state your model, I wrote Civic EX (indicating VTEC). You send them your OEM ECU after receiving a sheet asking for what your mods are. The change you fuel map and advance your ignition timing. THEY DO NOT INCREASE REV LIMITER. Some who posted saying they do is wrong. I still hit cutoff at 7000rpms, I called twice and still requested it on the form, still no increase. They do not touch your governer (if you even have one). Simply more power, not other bs. It's worth it either way, you dont have to heavily get on it when climbing a hill in fourth for example, just give it some gas and it feels a lot better, more tourque than before. Beat a V6 mustang last night (50mph to about a hundred).

On the contrary, first of all you posted a pic of the V-force chip, not the reprogrammed ECU. Two different things, ECU being a lil better. It claimed on the sheet they gave me a 8-10 whp gain. I can definately agree with that. Not much more or less, you feel it for sure, just don't expect a rocket out of doing just a chip. I have a CAI, Cat-back, and told them I had a header, that way if I add it, I'll get even more power/efficiency.

From Jet Chips site
Civic
8-10
CRX
8-11
Prelude
9-11
Modified fuel and ignition curves from 1500 RPM to WOT. Aggressive ignition advance curve in the JET program requires the use of 89 octane gasoline, 91 or better recommended for best gains.

also:
Are JET Performance Chips emissions legal?
Yes. All JET Performance Chips and most Performance Modules are 50 state emissions legal. They do not change the emissions at all from the stock tuning chip for any Federal or local emissions test. C.A.R.B. (California Air Resources Board) has issued Executive Order numbers D-234 through D-234-6 covering all JET Performance Power Chips, making JET Performance chips the most complete line of high-performance chips that can legally be sold, installed, and driven in the state of California. Because of C.A.R.B.'s very rigid rules concerning exhaust emissions, the Environmental Protection Agency ( E.P.A. ) accepts C.A.R.B. approval as evidence that an aftermarket part is clean and suitable for use in all other states.
