Question Revo Short Shifter

Uh yea, Im thinkin bout gettin a short shifter. I drove my cousin's Maxima yesterday cuz we traded cars for a day, and he has a short shifter. It's really stiff at first, but you get used to it. Anyway, I'm wondering if the Revo has that stiff shifting...

your cousins maxima's short shifter is just the shift stick it isn't the whole shifter assembly like the revo. So there is most likely a big difference. Also you have to take into account that the maxima is nissan and your civic is honda. Different cars and different car companies all have different feels to the shifting.

I am talking about any short shifter for the maxima. With our cars you can't just take out the shift stick and replace it. You either have to get the short shift adapter or the whole short shifter assembly.

yeah revo has a stiffer shifting...

you'll get use to it in 1-2 day...

our cars have a cable shift system... hence u'll need to swap the entire assembly, (well in a sense all the things that are change are only on the shift stick, its just its easier to swap the entire assembly, than to remove the semi-perm seated shift stick)

I have an OBX but its a revo replica so same stuff really.

here's some pics for comparison.

looks nicer too. (thats with the base RSX ****, even shorter and smaller than stock big fat ****)

here's another one...

you can see the diff. in the shift height... and you can see where the bushing kit is placed at.

ok thanks all, my question was answered. stiff is fine cuz i've gotten used to the sniffness on the cousin's maxima, so i'll get used to a short shifter in my own car.

the bushings makes shifting more solid by firmly bolting the assembly to the chassis by replacing the stock rubber bushing with aluminum ones...

basically, imagine if you have a joystick stuck on a table with rubber suctions.. and if you yank the joystick hard, the entire joystick assembly may move in that direction too...

now replace the rubber suctions, and super glue the joystick to the table... now if you yank the joystick hard, onlythe joystick moves...

thats essential what the bushing does.. nothing special, but it does get rid of needless play/movement when you do a hard shift...

compliments the short shifter nicely..

more noticable on a stock shifter though, I think... or at least thats what most people who grabbed one have been telling me.

hope that answers your question

so CapYoda, we can put your aluminum bushings in our stock shifter, and it'll feel more precise?

yeah. dont expect a gigantic difference though.

just aluminum bushings afterall...

if you shift hard a lot, you'll notice it... although its definitely easier to see the difference in reduced movement though.. cuz when u have the console off, and u shift hard.. u can see the assembly move... when u replace the rubber bushings with the aluminum ones... the play in the assembly is gone.

another thing you can grab for those planning to get the Revo/OBX short shifter, is Grey's upgrade kit.. it comes with two eclips, two hitch pins, and two metal/rubber bonded washers to further reduce needless play and movement...

I believe he's selling it for $6 shipped. you can find him on the forum, or sometimes he post it in the for sale forum.. do a search on that and you'll get some results and feedback.

the same goes for my bushings.. just do a search "shifter bushing" and you can review the comments from other members urself.

edit: here's the link for Grey's upgrade kit:

I had the Revo short throw shifter, Kumo sport bushings, and a base RSX titanium shift ****(heavy). Combined they made a major difference. The shifting was very smooth and it felt great.
