I think there was a post saying that there is a yellow type made to fit civics. Does anyone know which it is and does it work? Will it provide better starts than stock? Thanks!

it think there is a "black top" battery made for the 96-00 because there is limited space next to the firewall. The 7th gen will take a regular yellow top....that's what I have. I had the stock battery in my car for about 2.5 months, and it would struggle once in a while to start up after blasting my radio for a while (2000+ watts, 15s). With this new battery I havent had a single problem starting the car up.

***I recommend you get the RED top optima battery. It is designed for starting power. If you are planning to go big on audio and accesories, I highly recommend the yellow top!

The battery u are talking about is the GROUP 51, if u go to TNA-SPORTS.com they have them cheap.....even better if u go to ebay and type in "optima honda" the grp51 will pull up and they are 89 plus 20 for shipping. I just ordered mine and it will be in like in 2 days. The company is really good about quick responces. Tna rocks!

Ohh yah the battery is smaller to fit our cars. it is suppose to be a very simple install with no modifications.

....well i got the regular optima (D34/78 also called 750U) and it fit fine (for like $90 + shipping). The only thing is that the battery tie-down bar doesnt reach across anymore. Ima have to get that replaced whenever I have a chance

Thats where the new grp 51 beats out the others. The batt. tie down still works and u dont need to fabricate a new one!

i got the D34 and just fabricated a new tie down for it... only costs $6.90 at home depot and 10mins of time. EASY upgrade. If you need pics of it Fatboy, just message me.. i'll get you pics..... as soon as my parents come home from florida with the digi cam... lol (next weekend)
