Aftermarket Radio in Civic 8th Gen hatch (Dash Display)
Aftermarket Radio in Civic 8th Gen hatch (Dash Display)
Good Morning fellow Honda lovers!
I'm not sure if this has been asked here yet, thought I might as well make a thread and if someone can direct me somewhere else that would be fine as well.
I am currently in the process of buying a 2010 Honda Civic 2.2ctdi hatch. It has a custom touch screen radio with an entire sound system and the works. I was wondering, the seller said the screen on the dash for the original radio isn't working because this aftermarket radio was installed.
Is there a way to get it to work? I only want it to work because I would like to see the climate control display since as far as I understand the climate control display is on there.
Thanks in advance!

newer cars electronics are so integrated that it is almost dangerous to change say the dash screen.
you never know if the previous work are a hack job or not.
so, his reply is helpful. We see some cases here with people having issues with aftermarket electronics disabling stock features.

Surely this car has been out since 2008, somewhere someone must have done this before. I've seen so many kits for these cars to have a touchscreen radio put in. The seller is giving me the stock radio as well, ideally I would want this aftermarket radio to work because it comes with Android auto. Worst case scenario I'll put the stock radio back if it becomes a bigger problem.

In 16 years I've seen maybe 2 or 3 aftermarket stereo installs done properly. If you want to chase electrical gremlins and beat your head against the wall go right ahead. Also most of us are from North America, we don't have that model of civic here
