wheel dimension

this dimension is not really the offset. it is the outer face of the rim and the ruler shows the lug mounting face. it is for my 16" rim which is 16x6.5. my other rim which is 15x6.5 has a shallower dimension. i would say it is 3/4" less. you can see the rusty colored scuff marks where the factory hubcap rubs on the rim. since the wheel dimension is different between the 16 and 15" rims than the hubcaps have to be formed differently. yes, the 2 wheels are 1" different in dia but they both are the same width. which is 6.5". anyone know why this section of the wheel is different between the 2 wheels?

Re: wheel dimension

this pic shows another set of 16" oem rims. you can see the pronounced curve of the "hub/face"? heck, im not even sure what you really call that part of the wheel. i could put up a pic of my actual 15" rims but you might say whats your question? i think the face profile is different or shallower on my rims when both rims are the same width and the same offset. and why is that?

Re: wheel dimension

My guess is it’s different to accommodate a different style of hub cap.

Re: wheel dimension

i did find out how to remove the hubcap without jacking up the wheel. you remove 2 lugnuts and take off the plastic rings. than put the nuts back on. than take off the other 3 nuts and repeat. and now hubcap will come off. so i removed the 5 rings from 1 wheel as i am going to meet somebody who has some hubcaps for sale. aftermarket but i think they are perimeter clip style so its not the same. i did find a 2nd seller with a set of oem hubcaps but he wants 40. which is not bad if they are in good shape. they are from a 2010 accord. and my rims are 2007 so maybe they would work

Re: wheel dimension

i did get the cheapo hubcaps. they fit fairly well. of course i did not notice till i got home that the lugnut/flange lips are not on all 5 holes. seems like 3 of the 5 holes have the lips. they are the oxgord brand. 25 online. seller says he paid 40 and they sent him a 2nd set for free so he wanted 40 for 2 sets. i bought 1 of 20.
