2000 Honda civic lx sedan car tires 185/70/14 or 185/65/14??
When I bought my 2000 civic 2 years ago the car had 185/70/14 size tires and now I will replace the tires. My mechanic told me to get the same size that the car already had, but it is not the original size. Original size is 185/65/14 (tire rack) anyways I placed the order from tire rack for 185/70/14 and a tire rack specialist called me to check whether I want to get this size or the original. I am just confused, should I buy the original size or the size that they put previously? Do you think there is a reason why they used slightly bigger size tires other than the price, which is not a big deal.
Thanks

The previous owner probably just got that size cause it was cheaper. The tread width is the same so I don't see why it would be an advantage. Your speedo will just be off slightly. As long as the load rating is correct then the 70 series is fine.
