Starter failing at 150k miles, sounds believable.

Shorted wires caused the starter to go bad, I don't buy it. If that were the case the wiring would have started smoking when it stopping starting, not once the mechanic began working on it. The starter motor is not fused, it connects directly to the battery positive terminal. If someone were replacing a starter, pulled the power cable off, and accidentally touched it to any metal object it would fry some wiring. Sound familiar?
