Bypass AC Compressor on 2008 Honda Civic LX

My AC Compressor is shot! During the summer my AC quit working and when I started hearing what I assumed to be a pulley going bad, I assumed it was probably my AC compressor. I hadn't had time to investigate further due to extreme cold and no heated garage, so I thought I would drive on it for a bit and see. Well tonight as my cabin filled up with smoke, I knew something had finally gave up and died. I pulled over, popped the hood and as the smoke cleared, it was very evident that the AC compressor was the culprit....there was smoke coming from the pulley area. I'm really hoping that I can bypass the compressor completely with a shorter belt, but I don't know if that is an option. I saw on the 7th generations this is possible, but is it possible with my 2008?

Buy a belt for a 2008 Civic without AC
