2009 Civic Ignition Issue

I have a 2009 Civic EX-L and about three weeks ago this problem surfaced. You unlock the car with the key/fob and put in the ignition and proceed to turn it over............all of the electrical instrument lights come on but the ignition does nothing? No ticking, no cranking, nothing. If you wait about ten minutes, leave the car, lock and unlock the car repeatably, it will finally start. I took the key/fob apart to see if I could change the battery and there is no changeable battery. Looks like a dealer rip off coming.

Any ideas?

Re: 2009 Civic Ignition Issue

sounds like it might be something wrong with the immobilizer system

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Yes there is. It takes a CR1616 watch battery. But if the remote still works ok then the fob battery should not be the issue.

Sounds like you should troubleshoot the starter system. Might just need a starter, or it might be more involved.
