Need Advice Please. I have a 2010 Honda Civic. Automatic. 4 Door LX. Something was rattling around the motor. Anyways it died when i was at a stop light. I started it and pulled into Autozone and before i could put it in park it died. I had them check my Battery and Alternator. He said it was good. Theres a Loud Rattling Noise and i thought something was going to fall out of my motor it was so loud. I put oil in yesterday and i changed my Spark Plugs last week. I have no idea what it is. Im really hoping i dont have to buy a new Motor.

Was it making noise before you added oil?
Was the oil low?
How low was it?


Can you post a recording of the rattle noise?

Yes it was making the noise before i added oil. It was almost empty. I did a oil change and it was still rattling. Today my car died and got real bad and real loud. How would i post the recording on here? This is my first day on this so im not sure where everything is yet.

If it was seriously out of oil and now it's rattling loud and bad, it is not gonna be pretty.
Was it overdue for an oil change too?
Did it leak oil badly?

The engine holds about 4 quarts of oil......How much oil did you have to add to get it full?

Yeah it was over due for a oil change. 2 weeks. My cars not leaking at all. Just making the loud rattling sound now. Just 1 whole bottle so 1 quart. I also put Sea Foam in my Gas Tank a week and a half ago to clean everything. I dont know if that made it worse. Someone my pistons are bad or its a bearing. I dont know. Then someone else said it might be your water pump. I thought here was the best place to ask. I will download the sound as soon as i get the video. Someone else took the video so there sending it to my email.

I was thinking of how many miles if past due, not time.

Only one quart low of oil isn't as low as what I was thinking LOL but let's hear the recording first. Hopefully with a little rev of the engine for better noise assessment.
NOTE recordings don't always help, it's just not the same as being there in person.

Oh. Idk how many miles since it was 2 weeks over due. :\
My car has 80k miles on it. Not alot. Its really stressing me out. I hope i dont have to get a new motor. Im trying to think of a similar noise so you at least have a idea of what the sound is until i get the video.

Only 3 seconds of actual noise........ hard to tell what it is, but that noise does not sound pretty. You may need a pro to evaluate it in person, I hate to say something something expensive only based on 3 seconds of video noise.
