Rep Power: 0 07 Alternator needs replacement
So after spending $600 on a new engine mount, I now have a dead alternator.
Has anyone with an 07 Civic had to replace their alternator yet?
Does anyone have instructions or videos on a DIY replacement. I have changed the alternator in a 1980s Ford before, so I am tempted to try this one myself.
Any thoughts/suggestions??
Thanks!!

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

I'm guessing you have somewhere between 60-100k miles. The alternators have been lasting much longer than that here.
Are you positive the alternator itself is the problem, not a blown fuse somewhere?
Maybe wires simply disconnected? Ground wire left off of the mount bracket?
Belt came off?
You are gonna be pizzed if you get it changed and it still doesn't work.
Dash fuse box, fuse #3, 10A.
100 amp fuse in the engine compartment box. (Car would probably appear completely dead if this is blown.)
Alt replacement is straightforward. Tight, but straightforward. The belt and 2 bolts. And the wires and little brackets.
Another thing: You paid $600 for one motor mount?
(The right side engine mount is the one that commonly goes bad. $180ish list. Mail order $126. Labor- about 1-1.5 hours.)
Someone else did it for that price of $600, I assume?
