Honda Civic SI Cold Air Intake Problems
Honda Civic SI Cold Air Intake Problems
Hello there. I have a Honda Civic Si 2010. Recently, I installed a Cold Air Intake into my engine. However, the next day I noticed that my idle rpms where lower than 0.8 and at first gear it would get very close to stalling. Also, I could barely get to 6000 rpms and my top speed was around 90mph. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Re: Honda Civic SI Cold Air Intake Problems
Is your CEL on? if so then it might be your MAP sensor. Is it an oiled filter? these sometimes are over oiled and get the sensor dirty making your car think something funky, try to clean the sensor and see if that helps.

Thanks Gunner, I might try that out. Either way, I would have to install the cold air intake again because i didnt want to downgrade in performance while I looked for answers so i put in the stock intake. Good thing I didnt pay a relatively large amount of dough for it.

Re: Honda Civic SI Cold Air Intake Problems
Your check engine light. What Intake did you install? I know there are some problems with AEM filters that cause similar issues, its a design problem of some sort. Biggest thing is to make sure you hooked everything up right and have a good seal with everything.

Re: Honda Civic SI Cold Air Intake Problems
it has to do with the MAF sensor being in the wrong position in the intake system. too close to the filter and the air will be turbulent and give false readings. AEM filters are all dry synthetics and will not cause problems.

Re: Honda Civic SI Cold Air Intake Problems
Aye, i meant the intake itself not just the filter..but i did say filter...The AEM intake has a "vane" coupler that should come with it now becuase it is know to cause MAF issus with 8th gen civics
Re: Honda Civic SI Cold Air Intake Problems
Its your MAF sensor causing the issues. The problem is the Honda OEM sensor is to sensitive. I have seen this before on the later models. Hondata flash pro will eliminate the problem fairly simple but its not the cheapest way to go.
