Re: D series turbo parts

Well look at that!

I bought the head, which has been quite the topic of discussion on another site. Folks are asking if the coil packs are fake, showing me links to photos of the stickers for sale, etc. etc.

I have several more questions, but we'll see if he comes back up before I start asking them.

Re: D series turbo parts

Yep. That's the same head that I just made a thread about. I think he sold most of the other stuff on Ebay not to long ago as well. The turbo mani, IC and pistons were up the same time as my head (early April) and then he had an EL mani, DP and some other stuff on Ebay a couple weeks go. Not that I'm stalking him, there aren't many results in a "D17 Civic" search on Ebay...

Re: D series turbo parts

foos, you got a pretty smokin' deal on the head! I mean the PnP alone is around 1200! IS it in good shape?

Re: D series turbo parts

Actually its in really good shape. I was really worried that I was getting ripped off since the guy didn't answer any of my questions and was really rude in the once response I did get from him. I did a thread on it when it arrived. The only issue I had was that he advertised it has having "Spoon Coil Packs" when they were just the normal coils with those blue stickers. But they look good and it actually came packed with the Crower springs, retainers and Stage 2 turbo cam. Its sitting on my shelf until I build a stronger bottom end and upgrade to K-pro to take maximum advantage of its bigger lungs.

Here's the thread I did on it.

Re: D series turbo parts

nice my friend! So I was thinking about doing K-pro, race header, and idk injectors and plugs until my credit improves and I could afford a turbo...you think those mods could get me into 140-150whp if tuned correctly?

Re: D series turbo parts

With the k-pro, injectors (RSX-S or SRT4s, yes?), colder plugs and a good tune, probably. But why drop another $4-500 bux on stuff that could go towards your turbo? That being the race header and tune? Neither of which will be relevant when you strap that snail on the nose of your vic.

If it were me, I would get the k-pro and install it with the regular base map and use the time figuring how to run it yourself while buying the bits and bobs for your turbo. We both know there are enough folks out there who get 3/4 of the way into a turbo build, change their mind, and then sell everything. Since the injectors would transfer to your boost build, those two are a smart investment as you will use them the entire time.

I wouldn't go with the header IMO unless you plan on driving it that way for at least 6 months to a year before boosting. I don't know the ins and outs of k-pro, but it stands to reason that more fuel, with an ECU capable of telling the car what to do with it, equals more ponies. But having never done it personally, I can't give you a definitive answer.
