Both engines fit on 7thgens....pretty much nobody performs a swap from D17 to K20a3 because the EX gains like 33 hp.....for like 3-4 thousand..it's not worth it. Why not just pay the extra 1500 to get an extra 40-60 hp? Then we have about 100 more HP for about 5 Gs with a K20a....it's not worth it man.

Plus whether or not you are throwing out a hypothetical situation to "gauge interest", I am not going to show interest if I woulnd't actually do this deal in the first place.

Reasons why you didn't get much of a reading when you gauged:

1) It's too much easier to get K20a2 or K20a....not too much more and double the gain.
2) We don't know you from a hole in the ground....so I'll buy the K20a2 and give it to you while I TRUST that you won't screw me over.....with no companies to back me up like ebay or paypal? A trade based on a gentleman's word? These days, you will lose your bank and your *** getting into deals like that. I am actually proud to see that no 7thgeners were stupid enough to respond.
3) If I spend five thousand dollars, on a K20a2, I want the damn thing in my hands the second i hand the money out. Consumers will not wait.

But hey man, keep saving and good luck. See if someone will lend you the money to get your K20a2 and then you can sell your a3 to pay them back.

ahh thanks! well, is there anything i COULD do to work about the flaws in my plans?

i know that for 3-4 thousand, the k20a3 is definitely NOT going to be worth it(with the waiting and trusting), but for 2 thousand would it be a substantial deal?

well, your point number 2, really hits home with me...i totally understand that a mere word means nothing these days. But there are ways of working with that...im sure there could use some kind of 3rd party or meet or whatever

so i guess my biggest obstacle is number 3. As any consumer will not wait, as i am the epitome of that =o)

yeah...i totally get what you are saying, but if there is enough incentive, than im sure someone would want to buy it..no?

ehh whatever...i guess ill wait THANKS!

and i would happily swap a k20a3 into my car. it responds to boost way better my d17 and the aftermarket possiblities are endless. people spend shitloads of money to only get like maybe maybe 25whp with boltons out the ***. whats the difference?you get a new engine that will acctually give you some feedback with a few moddifications! instead of basically a dead end

okay...so i have mixed emotions...

hmm, thanks acidbaby for the support.

as your first post stated, im probaby gonna let this go for 2500 give or take a couple hundred, it just depends on what im getting it for. But since i want to provide INCENTIVE itll probably be 2000+shipping. so yeah...as far as hypothetical situation goes, IF I DO FIND AN A2, im pretty sure this is what ill be doing.

also, if something goes wrong during my swap...well, knock on wood and hope that doesnt happen, but if it did, i would probably sell the a2 and refund the money to you...and i would be left...with a screwed up motor. This is just the risk i take for doing something like this...(wow, major reality check)

but yeah, i actually have to find an a2 first. lol!

as for the performance of the a3...yeah, im not gonna say its the best in the world, but its given me hours of fun.

thought i might help you on your way man. have you tried ebay? you might be pleasently surprized with the aftermarket possibilities out there. also man for like 5000 for the engine not to mention 1000-1200 for labor, you could hook your engine up fo real man dont lose faith but also dont be lazy. see this is what honda tuning is all about. taking an engine that doesnt really have all that power that everyone else has, and putting you blood sweat and tears into it to make it thing haul ***. i mean say if you do the swap then what? what about when you get used to the power of the new engine. what are you going to do? turbo? headwork? pnp? well youve already put like
7000$ into this engine then to put another 3000$. i think that with a little hard work and effort you will be able to get the performance out of the engine you have now. dont give up man shes a bute!!!!

I am guessing that you mean the aftermarket for the a3. to be honest, its not the aftermarket possiblities that im bored with, its that the a3 is retarded...the A3 essentially only operates one intake valve under 2200 rpm to reduce idling emmissions. above 2200 rpm, there is just one lift/duration lobe on the intake cam. no VTEC mechanism on the exhaust side. its by no means weak...its just that if i am going to go all out on a project, i want it to be the best it can be.

but yeah, thanks for that pick me up. im just gonna stick with it for a while and see what happens over the summer...
