'05 Civic problem, in depth diagnosis needed
Hey guys,
The other day I got my CE light turned on, and I got the code "Rocker arm actuator control system performance stock off (BANK1)". After getting this error, I called a local mechanic and talked to the only other CIvic owner I know, both of them said it's most likely an ECM problem and that I should try to fix immediately, but also that the code can stem from anything to needing to clean the solenoid screen, to getting entire new parts. I dont have enough money to go to a mechanic for a full diag so I was wondering what I should do to troubleshoot from home, if at all possible.
Thanks

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

It's not an ECM problem.
Always include the actual fault code number in your post.
Include all of the freeze frame data if your scanner will provide it. It's helpful info.
Low oil level is definitely the #1 cause of a VTEC fault code. Go open the hood and check it now.....see if the oil is so low it's not even touching the dipstick LOL
Restricted oil filter is also a possible cause, probably 2nd most common for me to find.
