Unhappy Door Wiring

Hey everyone, so I have a 1996 Civic EX Coupe and when I bought it the windows did not work, I figured that this would be an easy fix, not so much. Whoever owned the car previously had taken it upon themselves to "install" 2 toggle switches in the door that are wired to the electrical wires for the power windows, . So I was wondering would it be easier/better to just replace the door harness or try and figure out the wiring catastrophe that is going on?

Re: Door Wiring

Do they work?

Maybe it had problems with the original power window switches, maybe not.

What you see might be part of someones workaround, but for which problem?

Those cars are old enough to be breaking the wiring in the jamb harness (part of the floor harness).
Look in the jamb area for new wiring in addition to the new switches. Peel back the rubber boot on the door harness to look.

Drivers door harness, about $70 retail.
Floor harness, couple hundred.

Re: Door Wiring

FIRST, check the plug in the door. a lot of people tend to remove the plastic wheel wells, letting the plug get wet and it gets corroded and the pins break, check out the plugs, with pics if possible and we will start there.
