iPod/Speaker problems, back speakers only

Hello, I have a Sony flip out dvd head unit with an aux out, and whenever I connect my iPod through an aux cable it'll only play through the subs and the back speakers. I have four speakers, two in the front and two in the back. I've tried different cables as well as different iPods, I've also tried messing around with the head unit's sound options but no luck. I'm starting to think the iPod doesn't support this many channels? Anybody have similar problems? Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

ipods only put out 2 channels, left and right. your head unit controls whether they go to front or rear, not the ipod. if you're getting sound out of both left and right rear speakers, then i'd say there's something wrong with your head unit.

Just to make this clear, when you play anything else all speakers work?

Might be an issue with the aux input in the stereo. Are you sure you double checked the fader and balance settings on the stereo?

Another thought, sometimes with different radios you need to switch the source to aux in, or you might have multiple aux in's since it is a dvd player, make sure you are using the right setting, check the menus.
