i just cant figure it out, i have an alpine head unit and theres a red light by the volume **** and its not always on but when it is on, whenever i change the song right before the song starts thers a loud pop noise from the sub, and i cnt find anywhere what that red light means. it only happens when its on. also change of subject really quick, but this morning it was freezing cold and when i got in my car... my heating didnt work! it use to work perrrrfectly i dont know whats up, i think i moved the **** all the way to hot to fast and broke it but im not sure does anyone know anything about that to?

Are you talking about that red light the little rectangle one? That's the power. If that is clicking on and off then you have a short in the power somewhere. Either a bad ground, bad remote, or bad 12V constant wire.

If you car is warmed up and you aren't getting heat, your thermostat may be stuck in the open position and will need to be replaced. Better open than closed, so be happy. A new thermostat I think was about $20 for my '01. It wasn't too bad to change either.

OK think about this for a second. If the deck was not getting voltage or loosing ground would the power stay on and the redlight flash on and off? Nope. It`s not a power problem (well possibly a bad ground) but I don`t think Alpine has a bad ground light.

Its an indicator for something like bass boost or something similar so that its sending out garbage signal when you hit a button. gives the subs a little tweek.


For your heat are the fans on and just no heat or is the dial for cool to hot just not turning?

i have that too and have no clue what its for. mine is always on tho. i can check the manual later tonight. maybe its remote signal wire indicator?

okay well manual says nothing, so its prolly just the power on light.

well, if gear's is always on, and yours is flickering, then you've probably got a defective head unit. i'd either take it back or get it repaired.
