Honda Accord cross compatibility?
I need a full size spare and the only wheels I have found in my area are Civic SI 17's. My Accord runs 215/55R17 tires.
Do I need to worry about weird offsets or some sort of width issue? As best I can tell, they mate up to the same hub dimensions so, as long as the offset isn't wildly different, I'm assuming I'm good to go.
Thanks!
Sid

Re: Honda Accord cross compatibility?
I think both rims are 17x7 but don’t quote me on that. The stock tires for the Si are 215/45 which is notably smaller. As a spare, it’d be fine.

Since it comes from the factory with a "donut", that small a diameter or radius difference shouldn't be an issue.
The bolt patterns I see online all suggest they are the same which is what I would expect from Honda for these two "sibling" vehicles. The diameter of the wheel is all over the place when you Google for it. A 7" width will work out well and I'm assuming the "offset" will be similar as well.

between 215/55 and 215/45, the OD difference will confuse the ABS and it will lit the ABs light.
ABS will activate in every braking. (the dun-dun-dun pedal)

I plan on putting a fresh tire on it that is the proper size. I'm not into running a tire that is really old due to the rubber compound getting hard which causes braking distances to increase and the likelihood of skids in rain or cold weather also is a lot more likely.
FWIW, the donut on my Accord didn't activate the ABS or throw ABS trouble codes. The diameter difference was so great I had to move my car and dig a small hole to put my scissor jack in to jack the car up for the replacement tire.

Re: Honda Accord cross compatibility?
what year and trim is your accord? I can find out the offsets and what have you. Typically, if it's a Honda OEM wheel of the same bolt pattern, they should be good. Honda tends to use +45-+50 offsets anyways, which is safe for pretty much all Hondas running a 5x114.3 bolt pattern
half case in point.. Was looking at getting new rims for my 2018 civic, and toyed around with the idea of putting my factory 18's on my friend's 2008 civic that came with factory 16's. Searched around a bit and found they fit without issue, albeit on the cusp of being too big

Re: Honda Accord cross compatibility?
Thanks!
I have a 2015 Honda Accord EX "Sport" I4M6. Really an awesome car for me at a modest price point.
Stock tires are 215/55R17.

Re: Honda Accord cross compatibility?
Alright.. So the Accord Sport 17's are 215/55-17 with 17x7.5 ET55, and the 17 Si OEM rims are 234/40-18 18x8 et50s.
Assuming you wrap that accord rim in 215/50-17's (the OEM size for 10thgens that came stock with 17s...
Source: wheel-size.com
Now, take into consideration that, since 215/50's are OEM 10thgen 17 wheels, pretty much everything in the "performance" category is going to be negligible changes. The section you'll want to pay attention to is the "clearance" section. The only thing that may be worrisome is the brake clearance behind the rim. The only real way to test that is to try it out. Put the front end up in the air, swap a rim, and rotate slowly to check caliper clearance. You
shouldn't
have any issues, but it's better to be safe than sorry. edit: as long as it's not scraping the caliper, you should be fine. I've seen rims be fine with literally 1-2mm caliper clearance

Re: Honda Accord cross compatibility?
Thanks again!
I always try to put the "spare" on the rear axle so that in the off chance I have a problem with the spare, I still have good control of the steering and majority of the braking. The rear disks also appear to be smaller, which reduces the likelihood of a brake caliper rub and, without steering I have less chance of a rub on the other steering components in a turn.

Re: Honda Accord cross compatibility?
np. Inner shoulder clearance should be fine, but again, check to make sure with the front end in the air and turn to full wheel lock left and right. Despite being 5mm deeper into the wheel well, it's 20mm thinner, so I highly doubt inner shoulder rubbing would pose an issue
for future reference, wheel-size.com is my go-to site for wheel and tire comparisons because you can find OEM wheel specs and get that whole laundry list of comparisons that I copied and pasted above

Almost 20 year old spare tire that's never been used. Is it still ok to use?
