Hello everyone,
I have a 2001, 2 door Honda Civic. I've been having this humming tire issue for some time now. After doing some searches on these forums, I thought I had an issue with a worn out wheel bearing being the culprit.
Anyways, I recently had an oil change and had my tires rotated. Driving home from there, I noticed the tires were a lot louder (just at 50km/h), the foot pedals and steering wheel vibrated much more and the humming noise could be heard also when coming to a stop. It got slightly better as I continued to drive though. I took it back a few days later and they took it out for a test drive. They showed me the tires on the front - the tread looked bumpy and uneven. They looked at my struts, I think it was, and said they looked weak and was probably the cause for the uneven wear in the back tires, which are now currently in the front.
I should also point out (and I
know I'm going to get sh*t thrown at me for saying this) that I believe I've only rotated my tires once in the passed 55,000km.
My questions are:
Is it possible the bumpy tires on the front will wear back to a normal condition or will there remain like this and my back tires will eventually do the same with my weak rear suspension?
Am I better to rotate my tires now every 5,000 or 10,000km? Would this help?
Should I have my struts or whatever it is, fixed and have new tires put on? Or is it not worth that being an 11 year old car and should just run it to the ground?
Thanks for your help in advance!
Side question: I try to keep my tires at roughly 32psi and I check my tire pressure at least once every 2 weeks and noticed one of the bumpy tread tires loses tire pressure. It might be at 22psi and yet it looks properly inflated. Why is this?
