Re: xxr 513's fitment
Hmmm. the offset on those rims is zero, so that will have something to do with your issue, but the difference between zero and the much more standard 40-42mm doesn't seem like it would make it too severe. You didn't mention what car you're fitting these on... I'm dealing with a '93 Hatch. Are you certain that you didn't end up with 15x8's? They have a zero offset too, and that would be skating a little over the edge. I've read posts addressing that exact problem. Dudes are stretching 205/40's on an 8" rim to try and get some clearance... looks bomb, but in reality, it can't work very well.
It bites that there aren't more rims offering maybe a 20-25mm offset, which would give it perhaps a 2" lip. I've now decided that I want the XXR 501's with a gunmetal center (16's), but the 7" (40mm offset) looks too flat-faced, and the 8"... well, they only come with the zero offset... which would NEVER work with the EG.
I suppose you could do that "fender roll" thing, but I'm no going that far. I like the body lines of the EG hatch too much to alter the fenders. I'll just keep looking until I find the right rims. *sigh*
