I have a new 2009 Civic EX that I took straight to the wheel store after delivery. The car came with the 16 rims and tires and I replaced them with a 17 x 7.5 wheel and a Nitto 235/45ZR17 tire. The car seems to handle well and only once in which a went over a speed bump toally out of control did I get any rub. That has happened on other cars as well.
However tonight for the first time I took two BIG friends to a meeting. One was 300 lbs and the other in the back seat was all of 250. I also am 240. I noticed a few rubs on the way home on turns where the car dove steep. I really don't think the wheels and tires are too big for the situation.
So what the answer, a change of tires or just keep my football layer friends out of the car? Is there a new spring I could mount? Here is the car for your review
