My first try at changing out my front brake pads and rotors. Finally decided upon buying Hawk Ceramics and Powerslot rotors. Was going to start this next week but saw instructions online that mention applying M-77 Assembly Paste: P/N 08798-9010. What is this and can I buy a substitute at a local auto store?

It's just a copper, graphite or silicone grease that goes on the back of the pads so there is less chance of squeakin'. Just run a little bearing grease across the back of the pad with your finger and that will do the same.

did you open up the brake pads yet? Sometimes the "squeak stop" stuff comes with the pads...

Or you can get little packets of it at almost any auto parts store up by the counter or in the lubes section
