Is the EM2 worth it?

Hi guys,

I’m new here so please be understanding if I don’t sound like an expert, I apologize.

I looked up at this auction and found that there was a 2001 Honda Civic Ex on the lot. Obviously being at an auction I do not know much of the car. However what I did find out was that it has a Manual Transmission, it’s a Coupe, and no reported accidents (which can be false of course).

What I was planning to do with it is just basically buy and modify it, but idk if I should just keep looking for another generation or if it’s worth it just to get on top of that and work from there. Buying the car and fixing it isn’t the problem, but is this generation of Civic great in your opinion? I have never owned one but have always wanted one.

Please tell me your opinion on this Civic, like I said I’m new and I really want to get into the modifying, street racing, JDM lifestyle 😌.

the 7thgen coupe/sedan engine is kinda like the red-headed step child of the honda family, but man, I loved that car. Learned how to do mechanic work on it and it broke my heart when I finally called it quits after a headgasket repair job went south

Re: Is the EM2 worth it?

I’d personally get a different generation civic. Lot more bang for your buck when it comes to performance. I’m as big a fan of the 7th gen as the next guy, but the aftermarket isn’t amazing.

Which generation you think it’s best to look out for, I was thinking either a 6th or 8th. But I’m not too too picky besides the EP3, love the car and everything but it’s just the gearbox that throws me off @Chezboat24

Big facts. Aftermarket support dropped like a bad habit after about.. 2010 or so.

What's your budget? That'll be a big factor.

@xRiCeBoYx as of right now, about 4-5k. Of course the cheaper the better but as of now that’s my budget

Re: Is the EM2 worth it?

You could build a pretty gnarly 6th gen for that much.

Re: Is the EM2 worth it?

Get an Si if you really want to go the performance route. Stock they will put you at least in the “sport” segment as far as power is concerned.
