Don't know were else to put this, but I've been a part of this community for at least 10 years. It's helped me a lot with doing maintenance, repairs, and general DIY. I've also contributed to DIY as well. Anyways, after 20 years of owning this car (nearly half my life) since I bought it brand new, I finally sold it with almost 220k miles. I'm so thankful that I never got the dreaded AT slippage and failure, but it has had transmission flaring here and there for the last 90k miles. Overall, it has been a pretty reliable car, but not without issues for sure. Actually, a lot of issues over the years from the radiator cracking to really bad idle issues. But, it has never let me down when I needed to drive it, and it has never left me stranded anywhere. It was running all the way till when I sold it. But, it needed new tires. It need all the belts replaced. It needed a new headliner. The dashboard lights just went out. It just needed too much crap, and I felt I just needed a new car at this point.

So, I got a new Rav4 Prime XSE. And, let me tell ya: EV is the future. This Rav4 is my wife's car. I'm now driving her 09 Civic, so I'll still be around. But, definitely in the next 9 years or so, my next car will be a straight up EV. I'm sure there will be other kinds of issues with those cars, but I'm really looking forward to the day I don't need to worry about all of the ICE head aches that I've had to deal with over the past 20 years in my 01 Honda Civic. And, now, I've got to worry about the damn engine block cracking in the 09 Civic. I might even try to sell this damn thing before that happens and get an EV sooner.

EV is the future, boys. Once you drive one, you will never look back. And, funny enough, I was an EV hater several months ago. And I still believe doing road trips or towing stuff will still be better in an ICE vehicle. But, for your daily commuter, EV is the way to go. Hope everyone the best with their 7th gens on the road. I hope to still see them being driven for years to come. Unfortunately, I won't be one of them anymore.

The hairline crack issue only happened to a handful of 2009’s, and mostly happened from 06-08. I can’t remember what the vin ranges are but there’s a good chance that you’re fine.

if the block was going to crack, most likely it would have, so should be ok?
headliner - my 01 was starting to have it sag when i traded it in back in 2005 for my current 02

good to know another civic serving its owner for so long!

EV's... the dreaded battery replacement is the one that comes to mind. And when the battery goes, pushing it will do no good.

On some of the other Honda forums, I'm reading quite a lot of folks who are now experiencing the engine block crack after Honda's 10 yr extended warranty on the engine expired. Some of what I read made me really wonder if I should get rid of the car: car just going powerless on the hwy and losing all power steering after the car went from normal to completely over heated in a span of a few minutes.

Anyways, although the battery lifespan is definitely a concern. I think the new generation lithium ion batteries (the so called million mile batteries) will make that worry go away. CATL, GM, and LG are releasing these batteries soon. I think the next generation EV's will no longer have battery issues but maybe electrical motors that need replaced. We'll see
