Just picked up a steal (i hope, but im pretty sure)
2005 Civic EX automatic, 31,787 miles....yes......thats not a typo, its basically new
new tires, and recently replaced timing belt (not exactly sure why...dealers need their money i guess)
a few minor dents and scratches, but otherwise garaged and clean.
Anything i should look out for......(i doubt it)
The rear passenger door lock isn't working, but works manually.....seems to be the only thing that 'needs' fixing
do a lot of highway miles for work and this will be replacing my 09 sonata with 183k............i figure the civic has at least 200k left in it.
Just remrmber, never flush that transmission fluid. drain & fill only
As for why the timing belt, it's made of rubber and time can take its toll on it. If that thing snaps or slips, you're looking at an expensive fix, because I guarantee you're gonna be bending valves if that happens.
The 7th gen was kinda the red headed step child of civics, but man, I loved every minute of owning my 2002. Tears were legit shed when I finally threw in the towel after a head gasket change went south. 205K miles and 15 years on mine. Would've lasted a lot longer if I didn't mess around with it so much. lol

i expect to put a LOT of miles on this car.....i almost feel bad for what im going to do to it. It will be getting the roof rack off the hyundai and used to transport ladders, and probably hanggliders from time to time as well. It is replacing my "beater" but is too nice to be a proper beater.
Just keep an eye on coolant levels. As hinted above the 7th gen is known to have bad head gaskets. Usually the symptom is low coolant in the radiator and overfilled coolant reservoir (engine overheating obviously). With only 32k miles you should be good for a while though. Nice find!
seems like an easy fix, my old man kept his 85 4wd civic wagon with 6 speed manual Super Low&1->5 for over 300k, and just got rid of it recently (and we beat the living hell out of it on 4wd roads)..........and that was basically my first car......so it feels sorta nice to be back in a civic

From my research there are people that would kill an entire family to have that car. Lots of people doing AWD swaps nowadays and those cars are rare. Hope you got some good money out of it.

he donated it to a local college mechanics program.......i believe they fixed it up (it was abused for 30+ years) and then auction it to one of the students or something
