2001 Civic LX Air conditioner compressor replacement

2001 Civic LX Air conditioner compressor replacement
A few months back my compressor must have seized up or something when I was driving. The whole clutch fell off. I ordered a replacement compressor and drier kit. Looks like they're easy enough to get to but I wanted to know if I need to remove the old refrigerant before I move forward. Any good guides for replacing these parts?

Take it to a shop and get them to evacuate the system. Go home install the parts then bring it back and get them to fill it.
