O-Ring = Thermostat Gasket ?

In the Honda service manual (7th gen) it recommends to replace the thermostat o-ring. I was thinking of replacing the entire thermostat which comes with the gasket ( I removed the last gasket and now its loose). My question is, do I have to add this "o-ring" as well?

Not sure what your talking about, why wouldn’t you replace that it’s worn and not fitting correctly..

I am planning to replace it. It is just confusing that the service manual calls it an o-ring and does not make any mention of the thermostat gasket. I think they are the same thing.

prolly cause calling it a partially split bagel gasket did’t translate easily from Japanese..

A Honda stat comes with the correct gasket. Technically, I would consider it a rubber gasket, not an O ring.
