Short shifter on a EP3?
Hey all,
Just picked up my first EP3 about a week ago and I've been working on it nonstop. Bought it from a used car lot and it's gone through 3 previous owners, but I was impressed on how the entire car was kept in good shape. The only real thing that needed to be changed was the serpentine belt and the idler pulley. (cuz that bearing was shot and was squeeling when I drove it off the lot) It still need the passenger side roof molding and the rear side-marker lights and possibly a new shifter (cuz the factory is kinda worn). With that said, I was wondering is it even a good idea to change to a short shifter? Just curious and looking for opinions.

Re: Short shifter on a EP3?
The stock plastic shifter assembly Hondas come with isn’t the sturdiest
Neither is the transmission / clutch built for beating / banging on
Adding a short shifter.., unless one possess adept hand/ foot coordination.., is a good way to tear up synchros (due to driver inadequacy.., not the short shifter)
Shifting quicker does nothing but speeds up wear / highlights the weak point(s) of the shifter assembly / clutch / transmission
Having said that;
Are they fun – yep
Are they addictive – yep
Am I far from being someone who'll dissuade another from modding their Honda - oh heck yeah
