definitely can't get anything better or safer for the price. but the interior noises can be annoying. and it was lovely at first, and hondas are such good cars as far as holding their value and being reliable, but they are boring. i love my car, i really do, she is so much fun to modify. but in about two years, i'm saying f___ it, and i'm getting a pre-owned porsche boxster. time for a little excitement.

The interior noises and other problems that some 2k1 owners are experiencing is a testament that Japanise manufactures can build a better car and our cars are put together here in the US by union workers that are more concern about how many paying hours can they get in between brakes.
.
>>

Most of the Japanese car factories are not non-union. I applied for Toyota in Priceton , Indiana and they were non-union. I seriously doubt that the Marysville or East Liberty Honda plants are unionized.

Bullseye,
You are right there is no Union I checked it out today, my bad.

But the point still stand we don't build the cars as good as the Japanise or Germans.
When a I was a kid my parents always insisted in buying USA made products, and I did for a long time.
Now that I'm able to compare is just to obious that we are not the leading manufacturers of automobiles in the world.

Why,I don't know any suggestions?

I love my Civic. I wouldn't hit turns on the freeway at 85MPH, and since this is my first car, if people believe the suspension could be better on the stock, then I agree. I've had my car for 3 months now and I'm about to go without it for a month because I hit a deer at 75MPH. I miss my Civic. I do still love my Civic, but I've always had a taste for something else... (a 99 Civic Si... an Integ Type R or GSR... Toyota Supra... 97 Mitsu Eclipse GSX... even a Civic del sol VTEC). I might end up selling it... but I really want an Integra with a VTEC to be that car I've always wanted. I got my Civic EX because it's overall a great car. Like someone said, if they had a faster car, they would've probably crashed it by now and I feel them there cuz I loved speeding in my Civic and I've already had so many close calls with other cars... so yeah... brakes, definitely! All disc brakes are well deserved but aftermarket ones will also make up for it. My Civic gets me where I wanna go. I love my Civic.

<< I still like my car and when I get the opportunity in July, I'll be trading it in for an SI or a Prelude. This is the first Honda I've ever owned and now it's time to experiment and explore the world of "Going Fast"!!!!! >>

The past couple weeks since I made that statement I have changed my mind yet again. I don't want to take a bath on my aftermarket parts! So instead of trading, I'm going to buy a second car, most likely a CRX and make it a hybrid project! How's that?! $5,000 beater that's lighter than the 99-00 SI and will be able to keep up with the S2k's!!! It should be done this summer, I'll post progress pics when 1: I get a camera! 2: get the damn car in a few weeks!!

I just put a AC rear tie bar on the upper shocks (already had a front bar) and a set of 195x60x15 Tiger Paws and the difference in handling is significant. The rear end doesn't squat as much in corners and I took some curves as fast as I can stand it. The car was still in good shape before good sense told me to back off. Yes, I did try it with the tires only and that was an improvement, then I put in the rear tie bar and got another significant improvement. I don't think I need any more suspension or tire mods, at least for my driving style. The car has really settled down with the additions.

i have a 2k2.. had it for 2 months now. once in a while i hear this weird whistling noise; the people at the dealership say its normal. sure. and just recently it started making this -POP- noise when you shift into reverse. but you can only hear it if you're out of the car.. it never did that before. hmmmmmmmmmmm

I drove a 95 EX sedan before my 2k1 EX cpe I got in June. Definatly loved my 2k1 so I started modding it. Little did I know that where I was going was a dead end. I bought a 99 Civic Si in December and definatly prefer my Si over my 2k1. If my g/f didn't drive it Id probably sell it to make room for a project hatch hybrid

My dad hasn't had any problems yet with the 2k2 LX. I've only driven it a couple of times and I cannot get used to the pedal placement and the steering feels light even at low speed, just like my moms odessey. The reverse on my dads also makes that sound from the outside, maybe its normal. I guess its a VW thing that I cannot get used to the pedal placement.

Yeah, the new RSX stomped over the new Civic's reputation. It's not that bad.

<< enough about how well my car handles at high speeds... I love my civic - all except for the interior rattles... . >>

this is the only problem that makes me mad, the plastic cover that goes over the rear speakers vibrates when the bass from a song (with stock speakers and no subs) hits. or even when the radio is off and i rev the engine. and the other day i noticed that the sometimes when the moonroof sliding door thing is open that space rattles too... i just need to get off my @ss and call the dealer and see if there is anything they can do about it

i like my civic, i wish they would have tucked everything in better under the car. so it would be completely flat on the ground. i also wish i could decide on what body kit i want. usually i find a kit and i like it in general but then i wont like one of the pieces. for example i think the visracing.com kit is alright but i dont really care for the side skirts. i want to put the kit on and set it and forget it. but the side skirts i think need to be molded to the car.

Most of the body kit part can be bought separately. Mix and match.

paint does seem thin, like everyone else said...the second week i had my car i parked next to this white bmw in a mall parking lot. came out an hour later and the bmw was gone and there was a huuuge scratch on the passenger side of my car but on the rear bumper, behind the back wheel. and there was white paint dust all up on it...no note though. i was rip sh*t...i mean when someone hits a car in a parking lot, how fast can they be going getting out of their own space?? the paint should'nt have peeled off so much.
and about the speakers rattling...the speaker behind my back seats rattles and the one on my front passenger side does too. even when i turn the bass to a negative, mess with the treble, and try to change it so more sound is coming out of certain speakers than others in the car...it sucks. should i make new speakers my next mod, or is the rattling still gonna be an issue even if i do that?

I have a 2002 EX Civic Coupe (Manual trans) and I love it. I've had it since late Nov. I used to drive a 98 Izusu Amigo and it's a little bit of a step up. I like it (=
