Rep Power: 0 5th gen hatch rally build.
I am looking to start my next project car and I want to do something much different then you would normally see roaming the streets. I want a car that can climb curbs fly down dirt roads, slide around in gravel, splash through deep puddles and come out on the other side ready for more.
I was thinking a 5th Gen civic hatch because I have always loved civics and I know that the 5th Gen hatch is one of the most reliable, light weight, and easy to work on cars in existence. My question is what would you experts do to a 5th Gen hatch to make it able to do those things.
I'm thinking snorkel exhaust and intake, roll cage, some sort of brush guards, skid plates and reinforced windshield. But my biggest worry is what kinda of suspension should i get i would like maybe 1-2 inch lift with some light all terrains.
Please tell me what you think. Thank you.

You are out of your mind! and that is exactly why you should do it! I think this sounds awesome and unique. I think you are right, that this is a solid platform with tons of aftermarket support (although the lift could be challenging). Do it and then post the pics!

personally i don't see a problem, but you should study dynamic camber curves (it's a double wishbone, after all) and suspension travel a lot before trying.
car is light, so might be possible to make it run the soil, but it is a low platform from start.

Thank you I've never seen it done to an older hatch. But its got to be nearly a perfect platform. When I get started I will post a bunch of pictures. If you come across anyone doing something similar post a link or send me a PM please.
