'95 Civic burning a LOT of oil

I figured i would ask someone before i went crazy and started stripping down my car. I just put in new bearings, valve seals and rings in just a couple of months ago. Now, just recently i noticed a lot of white smoke coming from my car when i would drive it, mainly when i would stop. From what i can see, its getting worse over time, meaning more smoke than before. What could it be? I just put in new rings and there was little to no waer on the cylinder walls, so i put in normal sized rings. Any ideas?

Does the car run crappy? Pull a plug see if your getting oil in the cyclinders.

Well the car runs well, i have been having this problem though where when it idles it revs up and down by itself, we thought it was the Idle Control Sensor, and replaced it with no help -.- But as for the oil, thats pretty much a given isn't it? theres gonna be oil in the cylinders if its burning oil right?

Re: '95 Civic burning a LOT of oil

Anyone?? Well, the spark plugs were pretty much soaked in oil when i went to do a compression check. came out about 165-150-155-170. I thought maybe it could be the catalytic converter causing the leak, so after destroying the converter i cranked up the car only to still have the problem. The amont of oil im having to buy is unreal!

Possible bad valve stems seals or guides. Also a possibility can be your top compression piston rings are lined up to where you get blow by.

Re: '95 Civic burning a LOT of oil

sounds like a head gasket leak, are you losing coolant too?

Re: '95 Civic burning a LOT of oil

Civic head gaskets rarely leak oil into the combustion chambers. They leak oil down the back of the engine from the oil jet that sits in the deck of the block. Did you deglaze the bores when you installed the new rings, and what kind of rings did you use?
