I just picked up a 90 civic ex sedan with 86k original miles. The car is super clean and had been sitting in a garage for the last 15 years. I'm new to the honda game and coming from subarus. I really dont know much about them other than some general stuff. I have been driving the car for the last few weeks and while its clean I just cant take the lack of power. I would like to do a motor and transmission swap but dont know what my best option would be. I have a motor/trans budget of $4000 and would like to keep the car NA and continue to use it as a DD/sleeper. I would like to stick with some sore of B series option since from what I read would be the most cost effective to swap and availability of parts.
So you stumble upon a low mile unicorn with 4k burning a hole in your pocket what would you do?

I’d drop in a k series. You can pick up the lower HP ones for not too much. It’s like a B series but more modern.
