Rep Power: 0 Map sensor bad?
Hello all,
I have a 1995 Honda Civic LX, with a 1.5L (non V-TEC) engine. I just recently got finished with replacing the head gasket, timing belt, water pump, accessory belts, intake manifold gasket, exhaust manifold gasket, and head bolts. I now have a "check engine light" on in my car. I pulled the codes off of it and it shows codes 3, 41, and 17. I recently replaced the speed sensor on my car a while back and my speedo seems to be working properly, but it's giving me that code. It's also giving me an O2 sensor code as well as the MAP sensor. I have tested the map sensor and it seems like I get the proper voltage, but when I pull a vacuum on the hose itself, the volt-meter doesn't show a drop in voltage like it should (maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I doubt it). Could I have damaged the map sensor when I pulled off the intake manifold? How often do these MAP sensors go bad? When I drive the car it seems like it has a little bit of hesitation/lack of power when I drive it, especially uphill. In addition to that, it seems like the timing is off a bit, even though I had it perfect when I put the car all back together. l do know the MAP sensor has a lot of impact on the timing as well as the performance of the vehicle as it sends information back to the computer. Could it also be the main source of my issue with the other two error codes I am having? Please help me out, I'm not too familiar with this sensor, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Dustin
