cooling fan

I have a 91 civic lx 1.5 l auto, is it normal for the cooling fan to come on every time I switch on the ignition, cold or hot,, dont even have to start the car, just switch it on,,

You mean that radiator fan runs all the time the key is on?
Not normal.
It should only run when needed, when the coolant temperature is high enough to trip the thermal switch for the fan.


Someone probably hotwired it to run like that because they couldn't figure out how to make it work the right way.



Or did you mean the condensor fan? (if it has AC)

"Could be."

There's a whole lot of 'could be'....until you figure out what's actually causing it.

Locate said switch and unplug it. Does the fan quit?

LOL, cant find the thermal switch, not on thermostat housing, any ideas?

Back of block, two pin thermoswitch next to the oil filter about 10 oclock position

Oil sender should be right there in the same area too. Straight above the oil filter?
