B20b

How can I check what model B20B engine I have? I know it's from a CRV but I'm not exactly sure what year and the mechanic needs to know before we order parts for it. I need a radiator and a head gasket kit.

Re: B20b

97-01 CRV used that engine.
Head gasket OE#12251-P8R-004 is used on all those years. I did not check any of the other gaskets though.

If you need to know an exact year, do you know who did the swap and can you ask them?

Radiator is for the Civic not the CRV.

Re: B20b

For head gasket SETS there's a difference between 97-98 and 99-01 in the factory catalog. IDK what the exact differences are though and don't have time to research it.

Thank you so much! So is there a kit that comes with that head gasket?
And unfortunately I can't get a hold of the previous owner.

Depends on the year of the engine and where your mech is getting the gasket set from.

A SET from Honda usually includes valve stem seals, and if you aren't doing a valve job you can save cash by buying the individual gaskets separately.
The Honda catalog says the 99-01 set is discontinued, but the earlier year is still available.

If using an aftermarket company, you'll have to see what's available from them.

Re: B20b

See if there is still a VIN tag attached to the engine..... might be right above the oil pan somewhere on the block. Probably on the back side (oil filter side)

If it's still there THAT would give you what you need to know..

I'll do that when I get a chance as I'm at work right now. Also what kind of hose would I use for the radiator?

A radiator hose.

I didn't build it, you and your mechanic have to figure it out.
Match up what's on there now?

No clue from me. I mostly deal with stock stuff.
