Need help with RPMs and Tachometer

I recently bought a standard 93 civic lx but crazy thing is... It had no tachometer so I had no real idea when to shift, I had to guess it when I shifted but I want to be sure, so is there any tachometers I can buy that are made for civics and what goes into installing a standalone Tachometer.

Re: Need help with RPMs and Tachometer

I shift by sound and feel, never needed to see a tach.

Check out the parts stores, the simplest would have one or a couple wires to connect inside the car (power and lights), and one wire run to the ignition coil (or tach signal test connector if equipped) in the engine compartment.

What your telling me is the normal shock and awh I hear from people when they find out an LX does not have a tach lol... Yep LX manual does not have a tach well as far as CDN models I cant speak on behalf of the USDM market but going to an autowrecker and finding a SI manual remove the whole gauge cluster and replace it with a SI one, its all plugin play, nothing else needed.
