Rep Power: 0 94 Civic d15b7 very hard to start after sitting overnight
Just bought this 94 civic 1.5l as a gas saver and it runs like a top once you get it started in the morning. The more I do to help the car the worse it gets. Changed all fluids, drained the old gas, new fuel filter, this made it worse.
So I try to crank it this morning and it just turns over, I probably turn it over 25 times at 2-3 secs per crank. Finally it sputters so I keep trying and it fires but only on 2 cylinders. I have spark and I have fuel as far as I can tell with just sight/smell test. Once it fired I kept my foot on the gas hoping it would come out of it, no luck. Turned it off and it started again on 2 cylinders again so I put it to the floor(honestly hoping it would just blow up), 2-3 secs later it was like someone hit a switch and the other 2 cylinders lit and it runs and starts perfect. Drove it 50 miles to work this morning. This afternoon when I leave work it will be hard to start but will only require me to turn it over 2-3 times vs 25-30.
So the longer it sits the harder it is to start? Any ideas?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

I probably turn it over 25 times at 2-3 secs per crank.
Before cranking, mash the gas pedal to the floor and keep it there. See if it tries to fire better that way.
If it fires up more easily with the gas pedal floored, let us know.

Well I believe I had to much oil in it causing the problem. I bought a 5 quart jug thinking it was a gallon and poured what I though was 3.5 quart but was actually 4.5. I drained that extra quart and it starts normally in the morning. I'm used to buying 4 gallons for my powerstroke and dumping them all in there, the diesel oil never comes in 5 quart jugs.
