How much should I ask for my 1994 Honda Civic DX with 50k miles?
How much should I ask for my 1994 Honda Civic DX with 50k miles?
I recently purchased a red, 5 speed, 1994 Honda Civic DX coupe and I am thinking about selling it. I'm not sure what to ask for it so I thought I would post on here to ask members opinions.
The car is in great shape for its age. I bought it off an old woman who purchased it brand new and literally drove it to the grocery store and to the library and back. It's only got 50,800 miles on it and she said that she has never had any problems with it. She always had it maintained by the dealer (I have all of the records) and always used genuine Honda parts for all of the maintenance. When she brought it in for and oil change in July they told her it should last another ten years. She didn't want to sell it but she hurt her knee and cannot use the clutch any longer.
It has a small dent on the driver’s side front fender and the paint is a little faded but that's it (cheap and easy to fix). The interior is in great shape also. I just spent all day on Saturday detailing the inside so it looks amazing.
So...(without seeing a photo if it) if you were going to sell this car what would you ask for it?

I did a kellys blue book on it and came up with the same amount but I see them selling with 3x's the mileage on craigslist for $2,500.00.
As for how much I paid for it...lets just say I paid less than the blue book.

wow that's crazzzzzy low for a 94! my 94 ex had about 150k when i bought it and i paid 2100, which was blue book (at least at the time). although i like the sunroof and luxury options (luxury, haha it's a civic), a lot of people like the dx's cause they're lighter. i bet you could get 3k for it, just might take a while more to sell; this is generally speaking, granted it is good shape mechanically and physically.
as time goes on, it's not like these cars are really gaining value... low miles or not. sadly..
