Just got a 1994 Hatchback DX 150k miles. Daily Driver
This is the story of my little hatchy. I've been wanting a daily driver for a while. My current car does 17MPG. With my daily commute of 65 miles day to work it wasn't cutting it for me. And I wanted to save some miles on my current car too. Hatchback only for work, my G for after work and pleasure.
I looked around for about two months. I was gonna settle for an older body hatchback, or a 1993 body sedan civic. But I found this car.
I payed $1,100 for her. with 150K miles. It does need some fixing here and there. Here are some pictures. Right fender is a must.
As of right now I am gonna keep her stock but you never know is the future. This car is supposed to save me money. hahah But I doubt I leave her stock. First time probably probably gonna be SI fog lights. I am guessing does fit. But I don't know anything about Hondas. Any input is appreciated it.

THATS MY BABY BEHIND MY LITTLE BABY!!!!

$20 got me that much GAS!!!

She passed SMOG CHECK like a champ!!!!!!

Input on this!! I heard is just the VALVE COVER GASKET!!

nice car and good price. 5th gen hatchbacks are rare these days, especially as nice as this one. so it leaks a little? probably just the valve cover gasket; cheap and easy. gotta have a nice little gas saver for a daily and then the sweet gas guzzler
post a couple more pics of the g!

I was pretty scare it was the head gasket leaking but the guy at Autozone pointed it out it's just the Valve Cover Gasket. Sounds like a project. yey... Brake Fluid might be leaking but I'll keep an eye on her.
I love taking pictures, These are just current ones I took of my G. I love rolling shots!!!

Re: Just got a 1994 Hatchback DX 150k miles. Daily Driver
wow nice g! ive always wanted one of those, love the body style.
ya that valve cover gasket is an eeeasy fix tho. shouldn't take you long at all to get it fixed and wah lah. and yes, it definitely looks like the valve cover from the pics you posted.
one thing on these auto older civics: watch the trans.. make sure fluid is good and red and not slipping. if it is do a filter and fluid change; i DO NOT advise a trans flush.. never had good luck after from people i've known, also i worked in a shop fow a few years and bad things always seem to happen..
break fluid: keep an eye out; nothing to major no matter what though and fairly inexpensive.
welcome, glad you're here, and hope the civic treats you well; i'm sure it will. if not, let me know ;D

Thanks for all the help so far. I got a few pictures and if you could help me that be great but if you can't its all good!
1st picture. I was missing a nut on the Valve Cover. But i am pretty sure the Gasket still needs replacement. Where can I get the Gaskets? I know Autozone carries them because I asked. lol.
2nd, 3rd and 4th Picture: My guessing is that they re did the master cylinder. I think that's what the black thing is. It doesn't look OEM.
5th Picture: I really don't have any idea when was the last oil change done, so maybe just do one already to be safe. Can you go synthetic on this car?
6th picture: I am pretty sure that's where the Air Filter go! Am I right or wrong?
7th and 8th picture: Just for fun. Engine bay. And it says Honda of Canada. I wonder why!

Re: Just got a 1994 Hatchback DX 150k miles. Daily Driver
ya, looks like the valve cover is leaking, i advise using a fel-pro gasket, good brand. auto zone? who knows what they carry... usually not the best stuff to buy... just IMO though. also, make sure you use permatex (the black stuff) on the both sides before installing. i think its called "permatex #2" i know it's called gasket maker for sure. but use a good gasket (such as fel-pro) and put the permatex gasket maker on both sides to seal it good. find a nut that fits snug and put err together.
from the pics, i would say you either have a leaking master cylinder or a line connecting to. big black thing = power brake booster. silver piece connecting to that has the brake fluid canister on top = master cylinder. maybe they left a line loose or something? maybe try tightening the housing bolts (ones that connect to the brake booster) and the lines and see if it stops leaking.
always do an oil change when you buy a new or used car. change to the oil you like and then you know it's good and new. a lot of debate on synthetic or not, but i use amsoil and or valvoline. amsoil = good stuff but a little pricey. next oil change i'm switching to valvoline full synthetic syn power. my favorite oil filter, and all filters, are wix brand.
ummm yes that's where your air filter is supposed to be... lmao
honda of canada= your car was made in canada, as mine is also.

THanks for the help mang!! I see little activity on this forums. Or maybe because these are old cars. I got cheap Air Filter from Autozone. STP I think it was.
I noticed the thing that holds the Brake Fluid connecting to the Metal thing might be leaking. Gonna take a look at and tighten it later.

Re: Just got a 1994 Hatchback DX 150k miles. Daily Driver
Just found out the leakage of my brake fluid. The Master Cylinder Reservoir is actually cracked, unfortunately I can't find it by itself. Everywhere I look they selling me the whole piece. I am gonna try a Junk Yard tomorrow and see what's up!
Re: Just got a 1994 Hatchback DX 150k miles. Daily Driver
Small update on this inactive forum!!
I bought two used fenders for $20 each. They already replaced on the car.
I bought a used master cylinder with reservoir. I just needed the reservoir so I didn't use the actual whole piece.
Next stop: Is fixing a few small dents here and there. I am gonna buy some body filling.
And then spray paint her white. I've been researching about it. And I hope to do a decent job and make her look amazing. I really don't like the color Green!

Re: Just got a 1994 Hatchback DX 150k miles. Daily Driver
Thanks for the love bro!! The fenders are not in perfect shape but defenetyly way way better than the ones that were on my car. Honestly it took me a while to find them but with luck ÿôū find them on Craigslist easily. Try different searchs, such as "civic" Honda" eg parts" that's how I found the fenders pretty much. I even found aftermarket signal blinker lights. Payed $10 for them. Lol
Re: Just got a 1994 Hatchback DX 150k miles. Daily Driver
A small update just in case anyone gives a crap!!
Here is a picture of the $20 fenders I got from craigslist.

I really don't think the hood has any hope but maybe I'll replace it in the future. I've been looking into body filling, and I love learning new things. Car is barely has any dents. Probably 3 in total and the tail gate thingy is pretty dented but I will work on it. Here are a few more pictures.

And some of the trim is off the car already. Pretty much I gonna do some body fixing and then sand her down and paint.

Re: Just got a 1994 Hatchback DX 150k miles. Daily Driver
Great post! I'm new here as well and in a sort of similar siutation- I just bought a 95 DX hatch yesterday that will be my daily driver (in fact, my only car at this point). I'm really excited about the car and I'm new to the community as well. I really enjoyed reading through this and seeing the progress you made. I just today pulled the stereo out of my previous car which is ready for the scrap yard and spent all day yesterday cleaning the Civic up. I only have one pic as it's currently at my gf's parents house (not registered yet). Your Infiniti is gorgeous btw
Re: Just got a 1994 Hatchback DX 150k miles. Daily Driver
I am really happy with outcome of the paint job. Not perfect, a few lights spots here and there but nothing crazy. A few coarse spots as well. Honestly if I would have taken another day and be more patient it would have been almost perfect. But maybe next time..
I am not gonna lie. All the work involved sanding and sanding and sanding, masking, is a little stressing. Right when I finished putting the primer on I knew I was gonna have a few coarse spots but no way I was gonna start resanding again with a finer grit.
This is my daily driver and if I ever decided to repaint it again I already have the experience and know what to expect. All the matter know is that she runs great and does what it supposed to do which is saved me $$ on gas.
I put exactly $40 every Monday which last me until Friday
Average commute 300miles. Give or take 5 -10miles. Average 8.6 gallons at $4.5 a gallon. Gas prices gone up the roof. But average of 35MPG.
