Turbo Help(1994 Honda Civic)
Turbo Help(1994 Honda Civic)
Hello everyone, needed some advice on turbo setups for my 1994 Honda Civic EX(coupe). I'm looking for a reasonable amount of horsepower gain without going crazy fast; 210-230 HP sounds about right, maybe 250? I do love my Civic, but it just feels like it needs more power and then it'll be one hell of a car. Right now I have zero modifications done to the car(performance wise). Audio system and Dunlap Star Specs are the only things this Civic has undergone.
What would be the turbo kit to fit my criteria? I daily drive my Civic, even if I don't have work or school I love to go out for a long drive. I also autocross my Civic at least once a month(will have a long break till September because it is too hot in Phoenix). I'm not quite sure on my budget because I simply do not know how much this would cost me. I've seen new turbo kits for $5,000-6,000. I don't know if you need additional parts to go along with that(go easy on me, I'm not the most knowledgeable in cars
). I'd like to keep it at $2,000-$2,500 as a college kid doesn't exactly have a ton of money. That gives me enough time to save up and install whatever I buy before my next race in September.
Thank you all for hopefully reading this, I'm looking forward to the information you can provide me.

Re: Turbo Help(1994 Honda Civic)
If you autocross, you should know that adding a turbocharger will put you in a much higher and more competitive class, which you would not be competitive in if you have an otherwise stock vehicle.
Being on a budget, put you're money into suspension and brake modifications. They will have more of an impact on the way the vehicle drives and are much more affordable. They also will not sacrifice reliability, unlike boosting.

I do realize that slapping a turbo on my car will put me in the super competitive class, but that doesn't bother me too much. I only autocross once a month, vs. all the other time spent in the car. I got my trophy already racing this car bone stock on all seasons
I'm not a competitive guy and I autocross to meet new people and test the limits of my car, I don't worry too much about time. I don't feel like my brakes need any upgrading, they do the job just fine and are great when I autocross. Suspension is something I would like to improve a bit(lower the car about an inch, stiffen it up), but I'd rather have the power right now. How bad do turbos eff up your car?
