89 civic engine swap
Re: 89 civic engine swap
Whoe whoe whoe... you want a sleeper but you don't wait it to be quiet? You think the muffler being cut out (I'm assuming no muffler) is better than it being quiet? Oh boy... put that muffler back on A.S.A.P.
It needs some serious cleanup but definitely doable. Fart cannon does not sound good

... that muffler is NOT going back on... ill run it right off the headers before i put that bubble box back on... i like big mean sound.... one other thing... do these damn civic all have a special socket to take the rims off? went to start tearing into the a-arms and stuff to put bushings in and there is no socket in the car Re: 89 civic engine swap

If they look like a normal bolt head, a normal lugnut cross tool is enough, if you have lock nuts you will need special keys, and there are lots of types, so you will need to post a pic of the special one to ID it.

Re: 89 civic engine swap
im tempted to just take a set of vise grips and a hammer take them off and buy a new set... this kinda lloks like them though http://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=h...w=1131&bih=670
took the old girl for 1 last rip before its parked until the engine is done... my clutch is pretty bad haha any suggestions with a clutch good for 400 hp?
ALSO put my dodge on kijiji about 2 hours ago already might have it sold!! HAHA now if that sells my funding for my civic will be there
Thanks for the good rep on my custom turbo gaskets... it was the only thing we had and i didn't want to buy anything so on went the toxic stuff hahaha

Re: 89 civic engine swap
Any excedy clutch should serve you well, I'd probably get one good for around 500hp just incase you get an urge to push the build a little further. Haha you deserved a green bar, start posting outside your own threads more and you'll bump that rep up higher.

Re: 89 civic engine swap
your civic is an EF body code, my civic is an EM2 body code, that integra is a DA body code; identifying cars by body code is simpler than year, model etc.. I bet that teg needs a ton of work, not only does the engine need to be rebuilt but all the parts listed sound low quality, which usually hints that there are major maintenance issues as well. Unless the paint was flawless quality I wouldn't buy it.

Re: 89 civic engine swap
$1300 ehh... I still wouldn't do it, because guranteed you'll need to either buy a swap for it or spend big money at the machine shop on one of those motors. Its like a hot chick with an STD, it looks great till you get into her and learn just how ****ed you are.
Re: 89 civic engine swap
why would i need machine shop work??? its being sold with a whole other engine to be put in... same engine.... and plus if that be the case i will just forge up the d16y7, put that car in our shop and sit on it until i find a good deal on an engine... we have a 40x80 shop...

Re: 89 civic engine swap
And how old is that engine, with how many km, why was it pulled from it's original chassis, whats the compression like? I can buy an old teg motor for $150, but that doesn't mean it's any good. The value in your current car is that the engine is relatively new.
Re: 89 civic engine swap
the new engine will be built before it goes in regardless.... if i do get this acura i may just go all motor with high compression and stuff like that... and still have my turbo civic.... bought the acura... it looks like it should be on the showroom floor... engine bay is super clean... carbon fiber hood rota 8 rims... its a really nice car!
