Need more light

I have a 94 dx with stock headlights, and they suck. Wanted to add some fogs for additional light. Anybody used any of the ebay lights.
Was looking at these Ebay Lights

Re: Need more light

Your link doesnt work, and fogs dont really help you with any visible driving light, their output usually falls between the bumper and just before the point you can see over the hood, making them useless.

Think about an HID + projector retro. Its more costly, but you cant ask for better output.

Re: Need more light

Fixed the link I hope.
I was hoping to avoid that cost for now. Do they make a driving light that fits in the same area as the fogs.
I thought about adding Silverstars andsee if that helped. I know they made a difference on the Mazda.

Re: Need more light

Silver stars aren't great, they just have a lot of hype from all the advertisements. Look into Phillips Extreme Power bulbs, those should give you much improved light output.

get the snap in ones for your stock bumper they look really good. also they wont increase your night time vision tooo much, go hid dude. Ive had them in every one of my cars. Very crystal clear quality and you can get them to look oem colored if thats a concern. If you do go hid though, do not go cheap ebay with them, the ballasts on those kits suck!

The lenses are glass and are in great shape. The output from the bulbs is bad. I am pretty sure they are the original bulbs. Our Mazda has the same issue. We put the Silverstars in and it helped quite a bit.
I would love to do HID but cost is a factor at this point. I had some PIAA 520s on my Jeep and they made a huge difference but are a little big for the Honda. I have some PIAA Pro 80 pencil beams but I think the cops around here would not appreciate a light that lights up a 1/2 mile or more ahead

I will install one of the new lights to do a side by side comparison.

Re: Need more light

i agree with mindbomber and gearbox. phillips xtreme power are great bulbs. the brightest i have ever owned. buy these bulbs and then decide if you want to spend the money on a hid kit or foglights.

Re: Need more light

Just stick a 6k HID in the OEM headlights
-shrugs-

it works...thats what I did (Output is about 50x better than halogen btw)
Glare isnt so bad from the civics, because they are low

Re: Need more light

Got the Philips 9003XPS2 and installed them. Much better, but I think I need to aim the lights up a little. The light stops after about 80 or 90 feet.

The pics show the new bulb(driver) and the stock bulb(passenger)

Re: Need more light

ooh very nice. yeah i found that you need to raise the aim a bit. the philips xp has a much better focal point for lo beam compared to stock. but like any bulb replacement, usually the lights need to be reaimed. i noticed you have an older car, i bet upgrading the headlight harness to a new one with thicker wire and a new relay feeding the lights directly from the battery will improve output alot. just 1v more to the lights and you get nearly 500 lumens more light. you can measure the power at the bulb with the car running and it should be around 14v. if its 13v or less, a new harness will be a huge benefit. ive seen old cars sometimes barely pull 12.8v and the output was terrible. voltage and lumen output is an exponential relationship.
