Help: Shuddering rear end
Help: Shuddering rear end
Hey all, I have a 1989 Civic 4 Dr with 213,000 miles and possibly a rotor that needs machined, I'm not sure. As I was driving yesterday, I noticed that around 30 mph I heard a light clicking/rapping in my right rear wheel well, as if something foreign were slapping against/in the wheel with rythmic timing. While idling and coasting, the sound stayed, but when I pushed the brakes, it cut out immediately. As I continued accelerating with the sound, around 40/45mph the rear end started shuddering in rythmic timing, sort of a quick chug-a-chug-a-chug-a. And it stopped just the same way with depressing the brakes, and would slowly fade out as I coasted down to 35 mph, then completely gone. Today I took it out for another ride, and though there was no sound in the wheel well as I got up to speed, the shuddering came in around 45 mph. I was guessing a bent rotor, or something in the brake system, but it seems like that would make noise, not bump the whole rear end to a beat. Anyone got any ideas? Thank you for your input.
