Re: B18 boost or K20 all motor

i personally would go boost its cheaper more readily availible and way mor hp potential for the money u would spend on a k swap
k swaps are kool but some what overrated

boost is over rated.

K20 swap if you want reliability.

Personally I would go K20a all motor...header, cams, exhaust, intake and get it tunned...hondadata, and pretty much its a freaky fast motor...I mean dont get me wrong, get boosted does give you way much more power and whatnot, but doing all motor is much more intense ecspecally when you have a K20a to start out with...you can always add boost later down the road.

Re: B18 boost or K20 all motor

It is really up to you. For the price of all the stuff for a k20 swap you could grab everything you need to do the b swap and have a bunch of paper left over for whatever else you may decide you want. Last time I looked at a k swap it was like 6000 for parts, a gsr motor and tranny can be had for much less (look to those that are doing a kswap as a possible source lol) as well as the parts you need for the swap. Check out theoldone.com and see what you think of their built motors. One of those bad boys can take a wallop of boost and still have a good kick without a turbo, and my guess on total cost would be about what a k swap is plus those bolt ons and tuning mentioned for +- 300whp or possibly 450 or so going with a properly set up b. The b isnt dead, niether is the d for that matter, but if just cost is the issue then go b you will end up with more in the end.

Re: B18 boost or K20 all motor

My Opinion-

If you are wanting to do a nice clean NA set-up I would go with a H22 JDM spec of the H22 type-r. Put a B-series tranny on it and call it a day. For the price of a K-swap you would be able to do the swap i talk about above and have money left over to do a header, flywheel, and etc. In the H-series swap you might have 3500 in it whereas in a K-series swap you would have atleast 6000.

As far as boost I would do a B18 on 10psi and call it a day. That is assuming you are using this car as a daily d?

Re: B18 boost or K20 all motor

k20 has way more potential then the b18 (no offense to the b18)

but i would recomend the k20 with boost. stock internals can handle 20 psi +
check out nyce1s.com where they raced b series vs k
